Tennis Elbow

What is a Tennis Elbow?

Tennis elbow, also referred to as lateral epicondylitis, is a condition that can result from overuse of the muscle tissue and tendons in the elbow. Tennis elbow is often related to repeated movements of the wrist and arm.

Despite its name, most individuals who get tennis elbow don't play tennis. Some human beings have jobs that contain repeated actions, which could result in tennis elbow. These consist of plumbers, painters, carpenters, and butchers. However, regular tennis elbow has no clear reason.

The pain of the tennis elbow takes place especially when the hard, twine-like tissues of the forearm muscle tissue connect to a bony bump at the outside of the elbow. The tissues are called tendons. Pain spread to wrist and arm.

What are the Symptoms of Tennis Elbow:

The main symptom of tennis elbow is pain and tenderness in the bony knob on the out of doors of your elbow. This knob is where the injured tendons connect with the bone.

The pain may radiate into your top or lower arm, and you can have tennis elbow in each finger. Although the tendon harm is to your elbow, you're likely to sense pain while doing matters with your arms.

Tennis elbow pain may be most extreme while you

  • Lift something
  • Make a fist or grip an item together with a tennis racket
  • Open a door or shake hands
  • Straighten your wrist and raise your hand

Talk to your physician if you have any of these signs

  • Trouble moving your arm(s)
  • A lump or bulge for your elbow or arm
  • Pain that keeps you out of your daily activities
  • Your elbow is purple or swollen
